The CIW Women Engineers Network (CIW IN) was founded in 2021 by the KIT Department of Chemical and Process Engineering (CIW) as part of the ExU Gender Equity 1 project. The aim is to enable both professional and social exchange for women within the department, regardless of where they are in their scientific careers.

From master students and PhD students to research associates and professors, everyone can become part of the network and play an active role. Regular workshops and network meetings offer the opportunity to discuss possible career paths, family management or current difficulties faced by women scientists. Participants can help each other with problems, for example through a mentoring program. Here, female doctoral students can receive valuable tips from female researchers, professors or alumnae who have continued their careers in industry. In return, the female doctoral students offer support to the female students participating in the program. The active organization of the network or publicity campaigns are also part of the participants' tasks. It is important that everyone contributes in the way they can and want to.
There will also be a digital platform to facilitate the exchange of information between network meetings.
