For a personal consultation, please make an appointment.

Within the higher education system

In accordance with § 19 of the studies and examination regulations, coursework and examinations completed in degree programs at state or state-recognized universities or vocational academies in the Federal Republic of Germany as well as at state or state-recognized foreign universities can be recognized at the student's request, provided that there is no significant difference in the acquired skills.
Students who have newly enrolled in the Bachelor's programs in Bioengineering or Chemical and Process Engineering must submit their application within one semester.

There are no deadlines for credits earned through exchange programs.

Outside the higher education system

Knowledge acquired outside of the higher education system can also be recognized. A common example is recognizing one or more practical courses based on evidence of relevant vocational training.

Applying for recognition

Please fill out the relevant application form (see tab “Application forms”) and attach the required supporting documents (e.g., transcript of records, module descriptions, training certificate, etc.).
Please note that submitted applications for recognition are binding, and recognized credits cannot be canceled. If possible, grades for the recognized credits will be transferred.

Registration and general information

Detailed information on bachelor's theses at the KIT Department of Chemical and Process Engineering can be found here.

Submission

You can submit your thesis at any time during the opening hours of Building 40.50 (Monday–Friday, 6:45 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.) by placing it in the mailbox of the Dekanat CIW (Building 40.50, 2nd floor). Please also inform Ms. Kadereit by email that you have submitted your thesis.

An overview of the advisory services at the KIT Department of Chemical and Process Engineering, as well as other services at KIT can be found here.

You can generate many certificates yourself using the Campus Management System. However, if you require additional certificates or confirmations (for example for your BAföG application or to extend your residence permit), please email Ms. Kadereit.

You can already participate in an Erasmus program or study abroad during your bachelor's degree. You can find more information here.

Exam registration

All coursework and exams must be registered for online in the Campus Management System. In order to register, the corresponding coursework or exam must be selected in your study plan.

Exam deregistration

For written exams, registration can be canceled without reason until the exam begins (when exam papers are distributed). You have the following options for withdrawing from a written exam:

  • Cancel your exam registration via the Campus Management System, if still possible
  • Cancel in person in the lecture hall on the day of the exam
  • Deregister by email to the examiner

For oral exams, deregistration must be declared to the examiner at least three business days before the exam date.

Please note that after the exam begins, deregistration is only possible in exceptional cases (e.g., illness), and requires appropriate evidence (e.g., a doctor's note), which must be presented to the responsible examination board!

The Studierendenservice is responsible for re-registration and de-registration. Further information can be found on the linked pages. If you have any questions, please contact your contact person at the Studierendenservice directly.

Any interdisciplinary qualifications obtained at the House of Competence (HoC) or the Sprachenzentrum will automatically be recorded in the Campus Management System as 'Not assigned grades'. To have these grades recognized, the form “Antrag Übertrag nicht zugeordnete Leistungsnachweise” (see tab Application forms) must be completed and sent by email to the Bachelor's Examination Board (Ms. Kadereit).

In order to take courses or examinations as additional work, you usually need the approval of the responsible lecturer or examiner.

To register for additional examinations via the Campus Management System, you must contact Ms. Kadereit, who can add the respective module (if the approval has been obtained) to your study plan in the additional examinations section.
